Each Pali basket is individually handwoven from a combination of new, reused and recycled pallet strapping using traditional Burmese weaving methods passed down for generations. Each basket is a one-of-a-kind.
Market style baskets are used by locals in Myanmar, including the monks, in their daily lives to carry shopping, fresh produce, flowers and fresh fish. They are durable, strong, long-lasting and the small baskets can hold up to 6kg.
The founders of Pali, Maggie and Cass, are a mother-daughter team from Melbourne, Australia. They have passionately worked with local guides and interpreters, enabling them to trade directly and ethically with the villagers to bring their craft to the world.
Pali is an ethical brand dedicated to contributing to society in a responsible, positive, and sustainable way. Every purchase enables ongoing support for village families and the wider Burmese community. We are really proud to stock them!
